Projects: Xarothy

[ Projects:Xarothy | Flood relief | Documentary | Women's empowerment | Training | Sanitation | Disaster | Workshops | Other ]

Project Xarothy aims to help promising children who face adverse conditions. SPADE enables the continuation of these children's studies such that they can progress towards self reliance in life. SPADE has identified several children whose education has been interrupted or is threatened to be interrupted, due to dire circumstances in their families, such as through flooding. Purabi and Bhanita are blind children who study at the Guwahati Blind School. Their families' meager income does not allow for their special needs to be met. Also, the Blind School's facilities are strained to provide the girls with appropriate care. SPADE proposes to intervene through its sponsorship program to fill the gap and help these visually impaired girls to grow with proper care, and enable each to become a capable and empowered person.

Awaiting sponsors:

Purabi Talukdar (5th standard) Bhanita Devi (5th standard)
Purabi needs special care to grow into a self dependent person to live with dignity and honor. Her father, a casual laborer, is unable to provide for all his children, let alone for Purabi's special needs. Purabi is a gifted singer and SPADE will focus on her musical training in addition to other aspects of her education and development.
Bhanita is a blind child studying at the Guwahati Blind School and her situation is similar to Purabiís in that her special needs are not met, largely due to financial difficulties in her family. Bhanita's father is a carpenter. She is a brilliant student and has a special knack for mathematics. SPADE will focus on her training in mathematics in addition to other aspects of her education and development.
